Training the skills of relating
Learning means first pinning down the parts we need to master, then training how they relate to one another.
To master individual parts, we lose sight of how they relate. It is easy to become trapped in an endless loop of mastering parts before progressing, dismissing any suggestion that a lack of relational skills is the real barrier.
Training the skills of relating gives us experience of moments that are greater than the sum of the parts we have mastered — and we find we need to pin down far fewer parts in the first place.

About the event

Jon Thorne will share examples of how we can become trapped in an endless loop of mastering parts before progressing, dismissing any suggestion that a lack of relational skills is the real barrier. Jon will then train the skills of relating.
A bit about Jon
When Jon's children didn’t fit into an increasingly standardized education system, his one clear resolve was to resist what everyone was urging him to do. He didn’t yet know the alternative, but he refused to respond to his children's struggles by doubling down on drilling the parts they were told they needed to master. In time, that refusal led Jon to help his own children—and many others—practice the skills of relating. Jon is the founder of LifeSkills21.club
