St Albans : Saturday - All ability basketball (WML01)

We play for fun, fitness, and kindness.  

We play to give our brains and our bodies a boost.

Coaches use basketball to encourage players to use the brain the way science says is the best way. Players think their way to doing more than they thought they could do.

Players are encouraged to do 3 things.

1. See a bigger picture of what is going on around them so that they see other ways to try. 
2. Try different ways and see where it takes them
3. Think on their feet by creating micro-pauses in which to make micro-decisions that switch between the narrow and the bigger picture, the mechanical and the flowing, the known and the imagined, the selfless and the selfish and build their own unique unplanned sequences of micro-decisions that use the whole brain. 

We play under a "Be kind" rule

The “be kind” rule means we use our brains to think our way around opponents.  We think about how to defend. We don't rely on force. In our all ability sessions "be kind" also means we give players who are not as good as ourselves space and time to think. Coaches enforce the “be kind” rule on players. Players enforce the "be kind" rule on coaches.
