When a typical brain is not at full capacity, we focus on one thing to the exclusion of all else. We often perceive fragments of perspective as the complete truth. This fragmented view prevents us from recognizing what is evident in the whole and diminishes common sense. We think we must adhere to instructions with utmost effort and determination to achieve a specific goal — or face failure. We see those who complicate the execution of instructions as untrustworthy. Without a clear objective, we remain inactive — oblivious to our own fragmented perception, bumping into other fragments without meaning.
As I listen to many podcasts with really successful athletes, I can't help but think that the subsequent challenges they frequently face after retirement could be caused, at least in part, by their maximum effort and determination to follow the instructions of their coach. It's a good idea to concentrate on keeping a typical brain at full capacity.
