Those fleeting moments of uncoachable inspiration are connections that create something greater than the sum of the parts, a phenomenon known as Gestalt.
Gestalt becomes less frequent when players lose sight of the connections between all parts. It can get to the point where players overthink the execution of their part, rushing to make poor decisions that drop performance below the sum of the parts.
If coaches and players want to have more of those fleeting moments of uncoachable inspiration, the players need to keep their attention on the connections between all parts.
